Keecha Harris, DrPH, RD Dr. Keecha Harris is president and CEO of KHA, a national consulting company and 8(a) and Black woman-owned firm based in Birmingham, Alabama. KHA leads organizational development, project management, and evaluation projects for publicly and privately funded efforts across a broad range of topics. KHA currently facilitates a professional development series – Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Environmental Philanthropy (InDEEP) – that has convened over 300 public and private grantmakers who represent over $65 billion dollars in assets. KHA is also curating a racial equity leadership development initiative for foundation executives – The Presidents’ Forum on Racial Equity in Philanthropy. Among current projects, Dr. Harris balances a portfolio that includes the environment, health, education, and food systems. Clients include the Annie E. Casey, Robert Wood Johnson, W.K. Kellogg, William and Flora Hewlett, David and Lucile Packard, Schmidt Family, and Energy foundations as well as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She has also led a learning community focused on community health enterprise for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as a learning community for food systems advocacy for the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group. Dr. Harris served on the board of directors for the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation and received alumni honors from her undergraduate and graduate institutions – Iowa State University and The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her background includes work in psychological science, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and collegiate retention and completion efforts in impoverished communities. Currently an adjunct professor at Luna Community College in Allied Health Sciences and Humanities, Ms. Fernandez teaches Introduction to Psychology and Developmental Psychology to first- and second-year students. As a community advocate, Ms. Fernandez has worked with the New Mexico Office of Substance Abuse Prevention to implement a county-wide drug prevention program. She is also an active volunteer for the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to restore the beneficial hydrological and ecological properties of clean and healthy rivers. Ms. Fernandez has an MS in psychology from New Mexico Highlands University and a BS in psychology, with a minor in statistics, from The University of New Mexico. Ms. Fernandez has had her findings published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented research at numerous national conferences. A passionate supporter of ecological sustainability, Ms. Fernandez has cultivated a long-standing interest in environmental psychology and environmental justice.
