The R2B Equity Learning Journey is a leadership initiative designed for environmental nonprofit organizations centered on racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. The goal of this body of work is to cultivate nonprofit boards that are more inclusive, replacing old narratives and problematic behaviors while creating environments that generate new possibilities for achieving mission impact.

Often, organizations treat leadership development, change management, and racial equity-centered strategy as three separate issues. The R2B Equity Learning Journey will offer a space for nonprofit leaders in the conservation and environmental space to work together on all three development priorities in a cohesive and collaborative manner. Cultural changes cannot happen without racial equity leadership.

Training: This series of 4-6 online workshops will begin in September 2021 and conclude in March 2022. Detailed agendas for each session will be available in late June 2021. The R2B project team will work with participants to confirm workshop dates.

Each organization will have board teams of up to three people engaged in a board development-focused community of practice, designed to improve board climate at the host organization. Each member will have the opportunity to participate in individual assessments to build their capacity, including but not limited to the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and Intercultural Leadership Styles (ILS). Activities include developmental and training sessions, assessment activities, and goal setting and tracking.
